How to Survive College as a Freshman
For many students, entering their first year of college can be quite nerve-wracking (anyone who disagrees with this is probably lying). However, these students do not realize that their college experience is mainly going to be based on their actions and how they choose to handle certain situations. A common fear for students who are moving away from home is becoming homesick. A good way to fix this issue is to come up with a schedule for both the student and their parents – when it is and is not okay to visit and talk on the phone. This will not only help the student keep in touch with their family, but it will also aid in ensuring that the parents are not clinging onto their child as they move on. This issue, along with twelve other common problems among first-year college students, are addressed in this Washington Post article by Jenna Johnson.
